A lavish estate in the Dominion neighborhood of San Antonio has a listing price that’s more than double its appraised value.
The mansion, just under 7,700 square feet at 11 Davenport Lane, is owned by the Carolyn and John Hooten Trust. It just hit the market with a $5 million price tag, the San Antonio Express-News reported. That’s about $652 per square foot.
Jason Glast of Phyllis Browning Co. is the listing agent.
The seven-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bathroom house sits on 1.5 acres and is next door to country music legend George Strait’s former estate. It was appraised for tax purposes at $2.2 million last year, according to the Bexar County Appraisal District.
“You will feel on top of the world, enjoying breathtaking views overlooking expansive grounds plus exquisite indoor-outdoor living spaces designed for relaxation and entertaining,” Glast wrote on the property’s listing.
The home was previously owned by Texas-born indie film actor Glynn Praesel, the outlet said.
The house boasts an eight-car, climate-controlled garage, a balcony that spans the entire backside of the home, and a kitchen with top-tier appliances such as dual ovens, a built-in steamer and warming drawers.
There’s also a gym adjoined with the primary suite, an infinity pool, hot tub and a spacious patio offering scenic sunset views.
Given the saga of Strait’s mansion, the owners of 11 Davenport might have to chop the asking price for it to sell. Strait’s house first went on the market in 2017 with a listing price of $10 million, then it fell to $8.9 million in 2019, $7.5 million in 2021 and $6.9 million in 2022 before finally selling to entrepreneur and philanthropist Shannon Ralston in January 2022.
