A Dallas investment firm has taken a stake in a local developer.

Compatriot Capital, the real estate subsidiary of Sammons Enterprises, has purchased an equity interest in Jackson Shaw, the Dallas Morning News reported. Details of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

It makes Compatriot Capital the leading minority shareholder of JacksonShaw, the outlet said.

It’s not the first foray into development for Compatriot, which invested in Dallas-based developer KDC in 2021, and it bought a stake in Silverstone Senior Living last year.

JacksonShaw was formed in 1972 and is led by founder and chairman Lewis Shaw II and president and CEO Michelle Wheeler. The firm specializes in hospitality and industrial real estate.

Here’s what else is shaking in Texas real estate:

Compass leased 14,000 square feet in the Hall Park development, at 2595 North Dallas Expressway in Frisco, the Dallas Morning News reported. The firm, which topped The Real Deal’s list of top residential brokerages in Dallas-Fort Worth by dollar volume in 2022, plans to move into the space by next spring. The office will be a hub for Compass agents in the Dallas area, and it’s part of the company’s growth strategy in North Texas, according to a news release. Dallas-based developer Hall Group is spending more than half a billion dollars redeveloping Hall Park, which it developed as an office complex 30 years ago, into a mixed-use destination.

SEED Property Group at Compass in Austin has expanded its services to include land and commercial property. The firm, founded by Tammy Young in 2016, hired Kristofer Kasper to lead the land and commercial division. Kasper, based in Georgetown, was previously a principal of the Miles Real Estate Group. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Law and was a partner at Armbrust & Brown, where he practiced real estate law before becoming a broker. Residential and commercial broker Sabrina Kennedy, with Compass since 2021, also joined SEED.
