A high-profile Austin firm known for its 3D-printed home technology has made a real estate hire. ICON added Jared Kuhn as vice president of real estate development and sales.

Kuhn previously led the multifamily division at Ryan Companies. He’s also worked at Hines, Soave Enterprises and Titan Industrial, where he helped develop across a spectrum of asset classes. He has a master’s degree in real estate development from Columbia University.

Some of ICON’s first 3D-printed houses went on sale in the Austin suburb Georgetown last year, and luxury versions are in development at Liz Lambert’s El Cosmico campground in Marfa. The firm also has a contract with NASA to develop technology to print houses on the moon.

Besides that, the firm has a vision to meet the global housing crisis with 3D-printed houses, by “transforming the way we build with robotics and AI,” Kuhn said.
