A 4,600-acre West Texas ranch home to a luxury resort is hitting the market.
The JL Bar Ranch, Resort & Spa, west of Fredericksburg in Sutton County, was listed for sale at an undisclosed price, MySA reported.
The ranch and hospitality compound is known for its upscale hunting and leisure experiences. Bernard Uechtritz’s Dallas-based Icon Global is marketing the property.
Seller James B. Archer spent years transforming the property into a full-service resort, which draws between 7,000 and 10,000 guests annually. Archer is the CEO of Nashville-based music publishing and artist management firm MV2 Entertainment.
Archer said he is focusing on other projects, including another ranch near San Antonio.
“I’d like to see somebody take it to the next level,” Archer told the outlet. “My dream was to build something for people to share a working ranch experience.”
The ranch’s list of luxury amenities includes a private fixed-base airport, with valet service from plane to lodge.
The resort features horseback riding, skeet shooting, a gun range, a spa, wine and spirits tastings, cooking classes and hunting grounds stocked with trophy game species, along with guided tours to see exotic wildlife, like zebras.
The resort has a concert-capable private hangar that has hosted stars including Garth Brooks and Aaron Watson.

Interest in high-end Texas ranches is strong, fueled by demand for private recreational land and the growing allure of rural luxury getaways.
This is more the case in Texas’ Hill Country. Developers have taken notice of the surge in tourism and seek to catch it.
DC Partners is planning a 22-acre expansion of Fredericksburg’s Main Street to include a small luxury hotel and shops. Other plays include Fort Worth–based Canyon Ranch, which is pumping $120 million into a 223,700-square-foot luxury resort in Spicewood, nearly an hour northwest of Austin. And Austin developer Chris Milam’s investor group is planning a five-star hotel and condo project near Bee Cave.
