Waterfront luxury is making waves in Central Texas.

A lakefront estate in Horseshoe Bay is on the market for $9.9 million, the Austin Business Journal reported. It was one of the priciest active listings in Texas last month and the most-expensive in the Austin metro area.

The 8,700-square-foot home at 113 La Posada Loop sits on two acres within the private Escondido Golf and Lake Club.

Built in 2014, it has six bedrooms, a wine cellar and a private boat slip along a cove on the southern shore of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson. The asking price comes to $1,133 per square foot. Patrice Emrie with Horizon Realty has the listing.

The seller is Ronnie Harpe, a former home furnishings executive, public records show. Harpe spent years custom-building the estate, starting with one lot and later buying the adjacent parcel to double its size, Home Smart magazine reported in 2015. Built over several years, interior features include hand-hammered copper finishes in the kitchen and an automation system that controls lighting, pool elements and seasonal displays.

The listing came in at No. 10 on the Houston Association of Realtors’ roundup of Texas’ most expensive home listings for May, trailing other properties priced from $10.3 million to $17.6 million.

Austin’s luxury market continues to post strong momentum, driven in part by the area’s tech-fueled economic growth. Major employers like Tesla and Samsung are expanding their Central Texas operations, and high-income buyers are showing sustained interest in resort-style homes within commuting distance of Austin.

Demand for waterfront properties is strong, especially on Lake Austin and Lake LBJ, where limited turnover has created a scarcity premium.

Only 40 to 60 of the 900 lots on Lake Austin typically trade in a given year, said Moreland Properties’ Eric Moreland, who is not connected to this listing.

“It’s not about the money. It’s about the quality of life and the lifestyle,” he told the outlet. “When you have a lake house, it’s a great kid magnet and grandkid magnet.”

The Horseshoe Bay listing reflects the resilience of Central Texas’ high-end market and the growing appeal of second-home destinations that offer privacy, water access and resort-like amenities.

Austin is among the top 10 U.S. metros for luxury home values, trailing only New York, LA, Miami, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego and San Jose, according to Zillow. The typical luxury home in Austin is now valued at $2.5 million, according to the report.
