$21M Plano listing aims to beat Collin County record-setting neighbor

Estate next door listed for $16M was most expensive house sold in Collin County

Ebby Halliday’s Cindy O’Gorman and 5817 Red Wolf Lane in Plano

A $16 million Plano home set a local sale record last year. Now the house next door might beat it.

James and Ellen Davenport listed the 12.8-acre estate at 5817 Red Wolf Lane in Plano last week for $21.5 million, public records show. It’s the second-most expensive new listing in Texas for the month, according to the Houston Association of Realtors.

The 12,872-square-foot home, designed in a Mediterranean look in imitation of South Florida auteur Addison Mizner, has five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The listing forefronts the home’s “rare materials,” including mahogany doors and Bordeaux wood floors. The listing price comes down to $1,670 per square foot.

The property includes a greenhouse, European-style landscaped hedges and a private pond that covers an acre. Other structural improvements include a detached guest home and a 20-car garage with lifts. Ebby Halliday agent Cindy O’Gorman has the listing.

O’Gorman has held the title of company-wide top producer at Dallas-based brokerage Ebby Halliday for the past 28 years, according to her website.

Last May, Woot.com founder Matt Rutledge sold the 6.8-acre estate at 5805 Red Wolf Lane to BuzzBalls founder Merrilee Kick for $15.9 million, amounting to about $1,300 per square foot for the 12,300-square-foot home, as well as reportedly setting a record for Collin County residential transactions. It ranked seventh among the top 10 most expensive residential deals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and it was the only home on the list outside of Dallas city limits.

Both homes on Red Wolf Lane straddle the line between Denton and Collin Counties.

The most expensive new listing on HAR’s April ranking, which gathers data from the multiple listing services covering the primary metro areas of the state, is a 12,000-square-foot newly built home at 545 West Bob Jones Road in Southlake, also in Denton County.
