Dallas-based Bray Real Estate joins Compass

Deal follows hot on the heels of Rogers Healy and Associates merger in February

A Dallas-based brokerage with statewide reach joined Compass recently, though not entirely.

The formerly independent Bray Real Estate Group, led by co-founders and spouses Chase and Melanie Bray, announced on May 15 that it had joined Compass, adding more than 100 agents across Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and Houston to the nation’s biggest residential brokerage.

Bray Real Estate’s total brokerage volume exceeded $475 million last year, according to the company.

The agreement expands Compass’ reach in the North Texas suburbs. The company has offices in Colleyville, Prosper and Rockwall as well as in Dallas and Fort Worth, according to its website.

“There’s so much commercial development at Legacy West and in Frisco, and you have to be able to sustain the luxury market in each direction of what’s now become the third-largest metroplex in the country. So I do think that in Plano, and even potentially further north, we’ll start seeing some ultra-luxury listings and developments,” Chase Bray said.

The company also operated offices in Lubbock, Midland, San Antonio and Oklahoma City, but the deal doesn’t include them, according to Bray.

“DFW, Austin and Houston will be the three markets that we’re taking our team to. Currently, we have other offices, but we’re not moving them to Compass,” Bray said.

Compass’ technology was a significant draw, Bray said, adding that “there’s nowhere else we could have considered taking Bray Real Estate Group.”

It’s the most significant coup for Compass since Dallas boutique firm Rogers Healy and Associates Real Estate merged with the national brokerage in February, bringing about 400 agents and a track record of $301 million in sales volume in 2024.

Earlier deals in Texas include Compass’ acquisition of the Realty Austin and Realty San Antonio brokerages in 2023. The formerly independent firms posted a combined $5.2 billion in sales the year before, and they brought about 630 agents to Compass. When Compass acquired Chicago-based @properties and Christie’s International Real Estate in 2024, prominent Texas offices caught up in the deal included Christie’s International Real Estate @properties Lone Star, a Dallas franchise led by Jerry Mooty Jr., and Nan & Company, a Houston affiliate led by Nancy Almodovar.
