Israeli manufacturer of food delivery drones opens facility in north Dallas suburb

Flytrex plans to have 60 delivery sites across North Texas by 2027

An Israeli company looking to replace food delivery services with drones is putting down roots in north Dallas.

Tel Aviv-based Flytrex Aviation announced a 8,000 square-foot facility in Pilot Point, according to the Dallas Business Journal. The facility has the capability to produce around 1,000 drones per calendar year, and plans to expand their team from 20 to 50 employees, according to the outlet.

Flytrex already has delivery sites in Wylie, Little Elm, and Granbury and plans to open 60 more across the DFW Metroplex by 2027, a considerable expansion of their current delivery offerings. Flytrex also has delivery hubs in North Carolina. The company boasts investment from Uber Eats and a partnership with Little Caesars and DoorDash.

Flytrex is trying to “scale as fast as we can,” co-founder Amit Regev told the Dallas Morning News.

The company bills its service as having “no hidden fees, no tips, no delays.” Its drones can reportedly carry cargo as big as two large pizzas. A Flytrex spokesperson did not respond to a question about the exact address of the facility, according to the DBJ.

Drone delivery has ramped up in DFW, because it’s being used as model by the Federal Aviation Administration to set rules for future drone use nationwide.

Pilot Point is just west of Celina, the fastest growing city in the United States. The city isn’t erupting in population at a similar pace with Celina, but it’s growing quickly. In 2024, Green Brick Partners bought 557 acres in northern Denton County to bring 2,200 homes to Pilot Point. The Texas Department of Transportation is planning an $132 million expansion of neighboring FM Road 1385 to accommodate the burgeoning community. In February, the Pilot Point City Council gave the green light to develop 350 plus acres along FM 1385 to 1,331 homes.
