Texas’ top construction permits for the week ending June 16, 2026

TRD reports on the Lone Star State’s top new permits last week

Tomball ISD Superintendent Martha Salazar-Zamora, Chastang Ford’s Joe Chastang and Inventec’s Sam Yeh

The Tomball Independent School District filed plans to spend $45 million replacing the intermediate school at 11211 FM 2920, ranking first among the week’s most expensive new construction projects. The new building will span 134,520 square feet, and work is scheduled to take place between September 2026 and March 2028.

Ranking second, Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 387 plans to replace a wastewater treatment facility at 25810 1/2 Gosling Road in Spring. Work on the 4,996-square-foot, two-story building is scheduled to last from September 2026 to September 2028 and is estimated to cost $25 million.

Chastang Real Estate, owned by Houston automotive dealer Joe Chastang, will build a new 89,182-square-foot car dealership at 3625 Eastex Freeway in Houston. Work starts this December and ends June 2028, and the estimated cost of the project is $23 million.

Renovations

Taiwan-based hardware manufacturer Inventec plans to build out an AI chip server testing and assembly facility at 23623 Colonial Parkway in Houston. Newport Beach-based investor Claude Yacoel owns the property. Work on the $48 million, 126,349-square-foot project is expected to last from June 2026 to January 2027.

Tempe, Arizona-based automotive retailer Carvana plans to add a new 115,000-square-foot building to the car dealership at 3501 Lancaster-Hutchins Road in Hutchins. Canada-based Granite real estate investment trust owns the property. Work on the $32.1 million project will last from November 2026 to July 2027.

Menlo Park, California-based real estate investment trust Menlo Equities plans to carry out a full interior renovation of the two-building, 225,000-square-foot office campus at 6433 Champions Grandview Way in Austin, which Dutch chipmaker NXP Semiconductors recently leased. Work on the $30 million project is scheduled to take place between June 2026 and March 2027.
