Georgia-based home builder Ashton Woods is upping its game in Texas with a big promotion for an Austin executive.
Lindsay Motley, who’s been the Austin division president since 2018, will now be overseeing the operations across the entire state as the Texas regional president. The position is newly created “to drive continued explosive growth across our Texas operations,” CEO Ken Balogh told the Austin Business Journal.
Motley, a 22-year veteran of the industry, began her career as a sales associate for Atlanta-based PulteGroup where she worked her way up to vice president of operations before moving to Ashton Woods, per her LinkedIn profile. Under her leadership, the home builder ranked No. 8 for home starts in the Austin region for the 12 months that ended in June 2021, according to Zonda.
“In her four-year tenure with Ashton Woods, Lindsay has tripled the revenue of our combined Ashton Woods and Starlight Homes business in Austin, expanded the division footprint and built a robust land pipeline to fuel our future growth in the market,” says Balogh.
Motley’s first big task will be expanding the lower-priced Starlight Homes line in markets across Texas. But with home prices continuing to spiral upwards, the growth potential for more affordable options is clear.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area recently topped the nation in the proportion of homes selling above their listed asking price, suggesting that bidding wars are still a factor in Texas, even as markets in other parts of the country cool.
Current Ashton Woods projects in Texas include Berry Creek Highlands in Georgetown, which still has 43 future home sites. In the Austin submarket of Hutto, the firm has Cottonwood Farms, which has sold 42 homes and has 99 future home sites. Lastly, there’s Mockingbird Park in Leander, which has 200 homes sold and 80 future home sites.
