A local developer is proposing another residential tower in downtown Austin.
Pearlstone Partners plans to build a 32-story residential tower with 220 condos at the corner of Lavaca and West 14th streets, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The tower will rise across the street from the 13-story SXSW Center. The lot, which previously held two vacant buildings, is located immediately west of the Texas Capitol.
The project is in very early stages and not likely to break ground this year, Pearlstone senior vice president Chris Zaiontz told the outlet.
This is one of multiple condo towers Pearlstone has underway in central Austin.
A 53-story building on East Avenue in the Rainey Street district will have 205 condos. That’s a change from initial plans that called for five fewer stories but 40 more condos. Construction is set to begin on that project in 2024.
Vesper, a 41-story tower, will bring 284 condos between Interstate 35 and Rainey Street. Natiivo Austin will have 249 condos and hotel rooms rising 33 stories a little south of Vesper.
South of the Colorado River, the firm is also set to break ground soon on a 182-unit condo building at 2323 South Lamar Boulevard.
The firm recently completed a 115-unit project at 2500 Longview Street as well as the 200-unit Parkside at Mueller, at 1701 Simond Avenue.
Zaiontz said Pearlstone is scheduled to start work on four projects over the next 18 months, bringing more than 750 residential units to Austin’s downtown.
