Common Desk plans to open a 44,000-square-foot location at 400 East Las Colinas Boulevard. The co-working company filed plans to renovate what amounts to about half of Canal Centre, a 10-story office building constructed in 1983 and renovated in 2021.
The renovations are estimated to cost $4.7 million, or almost $107 per square foot, according to the filing.
Dallas-based Common Desk plans to open there in mid-2023, according to the filing.
WeWork purchased Common Desk this year as a means of expanding the publicly traded company’s brand in Texas.
The transaction added 23 new locations across 13 Texas cities to WeWork’s co-working portfolio, and the Irving project is one of a series.
Common Desk began work on a location in San Antonio earlier this year, remodeling a 20,000-square-foot space in the Travis Park Plaza. That is slated for completion by April.
Common Desk also extended its lease with the Ion co-working office near Houston’s Rice University, by far its largest lease in the state, taking 86,400 square feet of the flex office building.
