Keep popping your collars, Dallas, because a planned luxury residential tower is aiming to redefine exclusivity.

The Galatyn, developed by Dallas-based apartment builder Streetlights Residential, will rise 20 stories on North Central Expressway, just east of the Katy Trail, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The tower will house 56 supersized apartments across its 20 floors, with an average of 2,700 square feet. That’s 400 square feet larger than the average new home, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, which estimates the median new home at 2,273 square feet.

Construction is set to begin this summer, according to, and scheduled to be completed by 2025. Cost estimates weren’t reported.

The Galatyn will replace a restaurant and retail buildings. It’s a block away from one of Streetlights’ other residential towers: the 22-story McKenzie complex. The McKenzie opened in 2018 and houses 183 moderately sized apartments. Streetlights is transforming the area north of downtown Dallas into its own development camp with a series of high-rise complexes, the newspaper reports.

The development firm is also developing the Oliver at Central. This 19-story apartment building will sit in the same area, at the northeast corner of Haskell Avenue off Central Expressway. The Oliver will cost approximately $2.5 billion and is being developed in collaboration with Japan’s largest real estate corporation, Mitsui Fudosan, as the first phase of a mixed-use development spanning 27 acres.

DFW has seen an increase in luxury sales, with many new multifamily and single-family options catering to the growing demand for upscale living. Ian Charles, Arctos Sports founder, recently bought a nearly $8 million residential lot in the area, across the street from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Luxury rentals have also made a splash on the market in the state’s largest metro, and high rises continue to spring up on the west side of Central Expressway.

Developer BKV Group completed the Moderna Katy Trail in Uptown last fall near North Central Expressway and McKinney Avenue.

North Texas is one of the country’s fastest-growing real estate markets, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Fort Worth ranked third on the list of top numeric gainers with an increase of nearly 13,000 residents between 2020 and 2021. Other North Texas markets McKinney and Frisco were also in the nation’s top 15 gainers.
