A lavish north Dallas estate, often referred to as the “White House of Dallas,” is back on the market with an eye-popping price tag.
The nearly 18,000-square-foot mansion, at 10777 Strait Lane in Preston Hollow, has been listed for $40 million, the Dallas Morning News reported. The price comes out to roughly $2,260 per square foot.
Joshua Songer of Allie Beth Allman & Associates, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, is the listing agent. It’s the second most expensive home to go up for sale this month in Texas, according to the Houston Association of Realtors.
Billionaire and prominent Dallas businessman and political donor Toby Neugebauer has owned the 3.3-acre estate since buying it for an undisclosed amount in 2018. It hit the market in 2017 at $11 million, or about $600 per square foot.
Designed by Dallas architect Robbie Fusch and built in 1996, the Palladian Neoclassical-style home features six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and four partial baths. The interior is adorned with French limestone, imported marble and hardwood floors. A highlight of the home is the 18th-century Louis XV marble fireplace, which takes center stage in the blue drawing room.
The estate boasts an upstairs movie theater inspired by a Parisian opera house. The theater has a bar and seating for 22 guests.
The primary suite offers two fireplaces, a sitting room, a sauna and a steam shower. Outside, there’s a two-level pool, a tennis court, an exercise room, water features, a sculpture garden and a putting green.
Eight-figure home sales and listings have become increasingly common in Dallas as the pool of affluent buyers swells. The number of millionaires in Dallas rose by 75 percent from 2013 to 2023, with 68,600 residents making at least $1 million a year, according to investment migration consultancy Henley & Partners.
Earlier this month, a 16,000-square-foot mansion in Highland Park hit the market at $28 million. The granddaughter of Dallas real estate scion Trammell Crow bought a $20.5 million in University Park around the same time.
