A five-bedroom mansion in the Melshire Estates neighborhood of Dallas’ Preston Hollow area is no longer for the birdies.
Professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau sold his 5,500-square-foot mansion at 5649 Brookstown Drive for just over $2.8 million, or $510 per square foot, a swift turnaround since listing the property for $3 million in May, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The buyers were William Sheehan and Samantha Halpern Sheehan, Dallas County property records show.
Jessica Smotherman of Rogers Healy and Associates was the listing agent. She and her husband, pro golfer Austin Smotherman, are friends of DeChambeau.
“We love that house,” Smotherman previously told the outlet. “We spent a lot of time in that house, and I know that he loves that house. He won his first major while living there. So we have a lot of really fond memories celebrating with family and friends and holidays and stuff in that house.”
The mansion, which DeChambeau purchased in 2018 and occupied until earlier this year, features a range of high-end amenities. The property boasts a media room equipped with an HD golf simulator, a pool table and two flat-screen TVs that DeChambeau left behind. The backyard has a custom pergola, fire pit, built-in grill and outdoor fireplace.
The quick sale of DeChambeau’s property reflects a national trend in residential real estate. While most of the market is hindered by high interest rates and low inventory, luxury deals are the only sign of life.
Sales of homes in Dallas priced at $1 million and above surged by 15.3 percent year-over-year in the first quarter, according to Redfin.
DeChambeau is staying in the Dallas-Fort Worth area; he owns a home in Grapevine. The 30-year-old golfer, known for his 13 professional wins and two U.S. Open titles, competes in the LIV Golf League.
