Centurion American Development Group CEO Mehrdad Moayedi is among those mourning the loss of a home due to California’s rampant wildfires.
Moayedi’s Malibu home was destroyed last week, the Dallas-based developer confirmed to the Dallas Morning News. Nobody was home at the time.
“This is a community rich in personal connections and it is very painful to consider the impact this devastating fire will have on this amazing community of neighbors and friends,” Moayedi told the publication in an email.
Moayedi purchased the 1989-built home five years ago and remodeled it the following year. The 13,500-square-foot home featured views of the Malibu shoreline.
The wildfires in Los Angeles have caused devastation across the region. As of Wednesday morning, the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire were responsible for 25 deaths and the destruction of more than 12,000 structures, according to ABC News, making the two fires some of the most deadly and destructive in California history.
Centurion American is a dominant player in the North Texas real estate community, known for its large-scale projects. Since its inception in 1990, the company has completed over 100,000 single-family lots.
Last month, plans emerged for Centurion American to construct more than 4,000 homes within the Alpha Ranch community along Highway 114 north of Fort Worth, Texas. Construction is expected to begin this year and the first residents are anticipated to move in late next year.
Other Centurion American communities in North Texas include Legacy Hills, a 3,200-acre master-planned community in Celina, and Cottonwood, a 1,500-acre master-planned community in Grayson County.
While it wasn’t revealed until last year, Moayedi purchased Donald Trump’s 1997 Cessna jet — valued around $10 million — back in 2023. Moayedi is a Republican megadonor who contributed a total of $245,000 in 2019 and 2020 to Trump Victory, a committee supporting Trump’s presidential campaign and other GOP entities.
