Washington Commanders Owner Buys Fort Worth Sports Ranch

The firm that owns the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Commanders purchased a Texas ranch built for youth sports.

Unrivaled Sports picked up the 325-acre Rocker B Ranch outside Fort Worth for its Baseball & Multi-sport Division, the Dallas Business Journal reported. The price wasn’t disclosed.

Rocker B Ranch, at 1125 Chaney Lane in Graford, combines youth sports facilities and resort-style amenities. It features four baseball fields, plus volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, as well as a fishing pond, music venue, cabins and swimming pools.

The ranch hosted 60,000 visitors and over 900 baseball teams last year, making it one of the premier destinations for youth tournaments.

The sellers are brothers Lance Byrd and Bart Byrd, Fort Worth entrepreneurs who developed the ranch after purchasing the land in 2005. The Byrds will remain involved with Rocker B Ranch under Unrivaled Sports.

Only 55 of the ranch’s 325 acres is developed, and the buyer sees significant potential for further development, including the more multi-sport fields and accommodations.

The acquisition comes as part of Unrivaled Sports’ broader strategy to grow its portfolio of youth sports complexes. The company, co-founded by Josh Harris and David Blitzer in partnership with the Chernin Group, already owns multiple properties across the U.S., including Ripken Baseball, founded by Baseball Hall of Fame member Cal Ripken Jr.

Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the markets benefiting from the demand for sports complexes. Recent developments include an $88 million stadium in Mansfield, a 122-acre youth sports complex in Roanoke, and a $200 million surf park in McKinney. In Frisco, FC Dallas is redeveloping Toyota Stadium into a sports and entertainment district.
