Colt McCoy’s Fort Worth Real Estate Brokerage Builds Momentum

Colt McCoy is coming in hot as a rookie in the football-to-commercial-real-estate pipeline.

Five months after launching HPI’s Fort Worth office, the former University of Texas and National Football League quarterback has filled out his core roster and says the team is locking down deals, the Dallas Business Journal reported.

McCoy, a 14-year NFL veteran and partner at Austin-based HPI Real Estate Services & Investments, now leads a six-person team out of a shared office on Eighth Avenue in on the Near Southside.

The group includes three senior brokers: JLL alum Matt Montague, George Jennings from Holt Lunsford and Garrison Lackey from Transwestern. Rounding out the team is analyst Davis Brin, former starting quarterback at the University of Tulsa and Georgia Southern University.

A steady stream of meetings have introduced the HPI brand to the market, and the team has already won assignments, Montague told the outlet. He said he expects to reveal them soon.

The branch is now taking clearer shape as a full-service operation, with plans to handle office, industrial and multifamily projects across leasing, management, development and acquisitions.

HPI’s entry into Fort Worth expanded its presence across all of Texas’ major metros; it has more than 200 employees across Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Montague called Fort Worth “an entrepreneur’s town” and said HPI’s culture fits well with the city’s character.

McCoy, who lives in Fort Worth and retired from the NFL last year, said the goal is to build an “exceptional” office from the ground up.

The Fort Worth team’s early traction suggests a stronger start than many brokerage offices manage in their first year, especially without a major acquisition or high-profile portfolio to kick things off.

Football is the foundation of many CRE heavy hitters in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, including Jerry Jones, Roger Staubach and Emmitt Smith.
