An opulent waterfront estate was the Houston area’s most-expensive home sale recently.

The 13,600-square-foot mansion at 401 Lakeshore Drive sold for an estimated $5.08 million to $5.86 million, or roughly $374 to $430 per square foot, the Houston Business Journal reported, citing Houston Association of Realtors.

Spanning nearly 6 acres along Taylor Lake, the expansive estate commanded three quarters of the $7.9 million (about $580 per square foot) it was asking for in September. Nancy Almodovar of Nan and Company Properties represented the buyer and seller, and the deal closed Oct. 16, only 12 days after it was listed.

One of the property’s standout features is its 4,000-square-foot primary suite, which Nan and Co. claims is the largest in Texas. The home also boasts nine full bathrooms, two half-baths, and six bedrooms.

Amenities include a custom car showroom with a kitchen and game room, plus a boat ramp, media room and sunroom.

Built in 2017, the home has undergone major upgrades, with added storm protection like bulkheads and hurricane shutters. After multiple listings since 2013, the property sold quickly after being listed again last month.

October brought a 21 percent increase in Houston listings year-over-year, with 3,197 homes entering the market. Sales of single-family homes increased by 1.7 percent year-over-year in September. Luxury sales, those priced at $1 million or more, increased by 2 percent, indicating steady demand in the high-end market.

The mansion in El Lago was one of two high-profile sales outside of Beltway 8, with the second in Spring, selling between $2.87 million and $3.31 million on Oct. 18.
