Texas homebuilder Long Lake snapped up nearly 100 acres in Montgomery County from the storied Brautigam family for a potential residential development.
The Houston-based developer, led by CEO Craig Jones, secured 95 acres at 26119 Decker Prairie-Rosehill Road, through its development arm, Woodmere Development, the Houston Business Journal reported.
The property is located about 40 miles northwest of Houston between Tomball and Pinehurst, was owned by multiple members of the Brautigam family. MLB Commercial Real Estate, an affiliate of MLB Capital Partners, represented the sellers in the transaction, which closed for an undisclosed price in October.
Known for their deep-rooted history in the area, the family decided to part with the land for “greener pastures,” MLB’s Tommy LeBlanc told the outlet.
Woodmere Development has not revealed plans for the site, but the firm is known for its planned communities,
In 2022, it purchased a 494-acre tract for a housing development in Katy, the Business Journal reported.
LeBlanc told the Business Journal that the 95-acre tract is a rare find in the rapidly developing area.
Houston leads the nation when it comes to homebuilding. More than 232,000 residential building permits were approved between January 2020 and August 2023, the Business Journal reported last month citing a report from Zillow.
Homebuilders credit the city’s low regulatory environment for the city’s ability to get homes built quickly.
As a result of the city’s robust homebuilding pipeline, home prices in Houston have remained affordable. The median home price was $335,000 at the end of September.
