A mansion in River Oaks has sold in the city’s priciest residential transaction of the year.
The 15,000-square-foot estate at 3630 Willowick Road was last listed for $24.75 million, the Houston Business Journal reported. The seller was Lori Krohn Sarofim, the stepdaughter of late Houston billionaire Fayez Sarofim. The price wasn’t disclosed, and the buyer wasn’t identified, but the deal is believed to be the most-expensive home sale in Houston this year.
Listed last year for $1,933 per square foot, the property’s $29 million asking price was slashed multiple times. Rachel Solar of Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty handled the listing.
Located in one of Houston’s most prestigious neighborhoods, the estate boasts a prime spot next to the River Oaks Country Club. Built in 1994, the mansion has five bedrooms and seven full bathrooms.
Notable features include a private gym, a rotisserie oven in the kitchen and a garden room. The home is also adorned with Baccarat chandeliers, ornate wood paneling and limestone floors
The exterior of the home includes a koi pond, crepe myrtles, weeping willows, and magnolias surrounding a serene pool area. The property also boasts advanced technology like a Savant system, biometric access, and a generator.
Despite the lengthy time on the market and price reduction, the sale highlights the ongoing appeal of River Oaks as a premier destination for Houston’s elite.
Other residential transactions in River Oaks this year include the sale of a 10,500-square-foot home at 3931 Inverness Drive for $15 million or $1,433 per square foot; the sale of two-story home at 3244 Chevy Chase Drive for $10.5 million, or $751 per square foot; and the sale of a 21,300-square-foot estate at 51 Grand Regency Circle in The Woodlands for $6.9 million, or $324 per square foot.
