A pair of large-scale residential developments are headed for the Alamo City.

On the North Side of San Antonio, Arizona-based Meritage Homes is planning 152 single-family lots as part of its 271-acre Estancia Ranch subdivision at the intersection of Blanco and Specht roads. On the South Side, Arlington-based D.R. Horton is plotting a 220-home community at the intersection of Blue Wing Road and South Flores Road, the San Antonio Business Journal reported

At full build, Estancia Ranch will feature 420 homes, with prices starting around $350,000. The 152 lots that Meritage is planning marks the third phase of the development, which will devote 20 acres to new homes and 40 acres to “common areas,” such as parkland.

Meritage, whose CEO is Phillippe Lord, aims to build another subdivision, called Sienna, in the same area.

“Due to the major growth along Highway 281 and north of Loop 1604, there are very few development opportunities available in North Central San Antonio now,” Jeremy Flach, division president of Meritage Homes, told the outlet. “Sienna will give homebuyers the opportunity to live where they work and play with easy access to a hub of major highways nearby.”

D.R. Horton, meanwhile, is ready to ramp up production after putting several San Antonio projects on the backburner last year. The firm’s 44-acre development is across the street from the Navistar facility, a 920,000-square-foot assembly plant that’s expected to create over 600 jobs in the city.
