The Real Deal (TRD) Trademark Use: Guidelines for Third Parties
The Real Deal (owned by Korangy Publishing Inc.) maintains valuable trademark rights in our name, logos, events, and digital products (collectively, “TRD Marks” and “TRD Offerings”). To protect the integrity of our reporting and brand, all use of TRD Marks must comply with these guidelines.
General Usage Policy
Unless you have received express, written permission from The Real Deal, you are not authorized to use TRD Marks:
- In logo or stylized forms (standard text only).
- As the prominent brand in marketing your own (or a third party's) goods and services.
- In any manner that suggests a partnership, affiliation, or endorsement by The Real Deal where one does not exist.
Formatting Requirements
If you refer to a TRD Offering (such as a specific TRD event or a rankings list) in your marketing, it must appear in the same size, font, and italic text format as the surrounding text i.e. “The Real Deal NYC Real Estate Forum”. Do not bold or highlight TRD Marks to make them stand out unless you have a specific trademark license.
Specific Prohibitions
To maintain a clear distinction between our editorial independence and third-party commercial interests, please adhere to the following:
Events & Logistics: If you are selling services around (e.g., hotel blocks, after-parties, or travel) or promoting your participation in a TRD event as an exhibitor, attendee or speaker, do not use the event logo unless previously authorized or licensed to do so, have been provided comarketing materials by TRD.
Data & Lists: Do not use TRD Marks to sell purported attendee, subscriber, or exhibitor lists. These lists are confidential, proprietary, and not for sale by third parties.
Email Marketing: Do not use “The Real Deal” or “TRD” in the Subject Line or the “From” address of marketing emails without prior authorization from TRD
Digital Identity: Do not include TRD Marks in your domain names, social media handles, or professional email addresses.
Brand Mixing: Do not combine or “lock up” TRD Marks with your own company logo or trademarks.
TRD Rankings & TRD100 Usage
Inclusion in a The Real Deal ranking or the TRD100 is a significant achievement, but it does not grant an automatic license to use our protected brand assets.
- Official Assets Only: You may not use TRD Marks (including the "TRD100" logo or specialized ranking badges) to promote your inclusion on a list unless you have been provided with the official assets directly by The Real Deal or have obtained prior written authorization.
- No "Self-Made" Graphics: Do not create your own graphics, badges, or "awards" that incorporate TRD logos or stylized text to announce your ranking.
- Factual References: In the absence of official assets, you may make a factual, text-only statement regarding your ranking (e.g., "Ranked #5 in The Real Deal’s 2024 Top 25 NYC Brokers"), provided the text matches the size and font of the surrounding copy.
- Licensing: For permission to use official "Rankings" or "TRD100" badges for print, digital, or social media marketing, please contact our licensing partner, PARS.
Required Disclaimer
If you are referring to a TRD Offering in your collateral (and are not an official partner), you must include the following notice in the footer of your website or marketing materials:
