A waterfront estate in Greenwich with a private dock that was once used by famed aviator Charles Lindbergh has hit the market at $25.9 million.

The century-old, ivy-covered mansion at 130 Field Point Circle is listed with Compass agent Robin Kencel, Mansion Global reported. Kencel told the outlet that the 2.4-acre property has “truly dramatic views of the Long Island Sound.”

The eight-bedroom home is known as the Pryory after its former owner, Remington Arms president Samuel Pryor Sr., who built it in 1916. Designed as an English country estate, Pryor bequeathed the property to his son, aviation industrialist and former Pan American World Airways executive Samuel Pryor Jr.

It was the younger Pryor who hosted parties at the home with guests including “presidents, dignitaries, New York City mayors and even hundreds of his neighbors,” according to Mansion Global. The outlet noted that the junior Pryor, who died in 1985, was also a friend of Lindbergh’s and other mid-20th century aviators that regularly flew seaplanes from the Pryory’s dock.

The Pryory’s current amenities including a tennis court, swimming pool and a private beach with a mooring. The current owners of the home, which had previously been listed at the same ask with other brokerages, “did an extensive renovation and preservation” of the property, Kencel told Mansion Global. The Compass broker represented former Sony Music chairman and CEO Tommy Mottola on the $14.9 million sale of his Greenwich estate earlier this year.

That discounted deal and price cuts coming to other high-end homes have put a spotlight on Greenwich’s luxury sales market. [Mansion Global] — Maya Rajamani
