A 28-unit affordable housing development in Southampton that faced “fierce community resistance” in its planning stages has officially opened, according to 27east. Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the complex in Tuckahoe known as Sandy Hollow Cove on Monday. The project grew out of a partnership between the Southampton Housing Authority and Jericho-based Georgica Green Ventures. All of the complex’s studio, one- and two-bedroom units have been assigned to tenants already, the outlet reported. “This is a groundbreaking development here, and I know it’s a sign of what is ahead,” Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said at the ribbon-cutting.
