Southampton Town plans to shell out a total of $3.6 million for 6.47 acres of land and the “enhanced development rights” on 2.36 acres of farmland, 27east reported. $1.6 million of that Community Preservation Fund money will go toward buying 0.67 acres on Montauk Highway in Westhampton; 1.7 acres on Oceanview Road in Hampton Bays; and 4.1 acres on Water Mill Towd Road in North Sea, according to the outlet. Buying the development rights for the farmland for $2 million will ensure that the land will either be sold or leased to a farmer in the future. It wasn’t immediately clear what the town plans to do with the four properties. [27east]
