There won’t be any hotels, motels, guest houses or Airbnb’s in Cape May County for the foreseeable future. The freeholder board just passed a measure banning operations of such businesses. As of Tuesday, the county had 100 reported cases of the virus, with two deaths. The freeholders said they would reopen businesses as soon as it was safe to do so, though it could be months from now. The resolution does not require the eviction of any guests or tenants currently lodged in affected businesses, the county statement added. Tourism in Cape May is one of the local economy’s key drivers, and a prolonged shutdown would greatly damage its tax base. [NJ.com] James Kleimann
