The new owners of Shelter Island’s Chequit Inn have big plans for the nearly 150-year-old lodge, according to the Shelter Island Reporter. Stefan and Stacey Soloviev, who bought the Chequit for $3 million, plan to incorporate it into their larger hospitality business in the area. They plan to have weddings at the vineyard they own in Cutchogue and host wedding guests at the Chequit. Stacey Soloviev said the hotel “needs some love on the outside,” suggesting there are some renovations planned. The couple owns some farmland in the area and plan to grow their own food and raise cows for meat for their restaurants. Stefan is the son of billionaire real estate mogul Sheldon Solow.
