One landlord said a tenant whose $3,600-per-month lease ended in April simply said the tenant didn’t have the money to pay anymore and hasn’t left. The landlord said the rental was worth up to $55,000 a month between Memorial and Labor days.

The state eviction measure runs through August 20. Some landlords are even offering to write checks to squatting tenants to get them out before the summer rental season hits.
