A New York State Supreme Court judge has approved the sale of Nyack College’s 107-acre campus to Yeshivath Viznitz D’Khal Torath Chaim in Rockland County.

The Ramapo-based yeshiva paid $45.5 million for the sprawling campus, according to LoHud. It will cover the defunct college’s $38.5 million debt to Procida Funding and Advisors and other associated expenses.

Yeshivath Viznitz plans to open schools there for 250 college-level students and 250 high-school level students, and may open up facilities for younger children. The sale closed earlier this month.

Some Orangetown village residents have opposed the sale. Nyack College initially backed developer Gabe Alexander, who wanted to buy the property and redevelop it into housing. That deal fell apart after the village was unable to alter a permit on the property to allow that project, which was the cause of some controversy. [LoHud] — Dennis Lynch
