The developers proposing to redevelop the Connecticut Post Mall have reworked the project after local authorities rejected their previous plan, according to the Milford Mirror.
Last year’s plans called for 300 apartments on a four-acre chunk of the mall property, which Sears once anchored. Zoning officials rejected the request for a zoning change, arguing that the property should include a more robust mix of uses, including commercial space.
The developers, Dallas-based Centennial Real Estate and Milford Crossing Plaza, responded by adding public space and saying that offices and other commercial space could be added later. Changes could be made to mix residential and commercial space in the same building.
The developers are scheduled to present a detailed master plan to a subcommittee of Milford’s Planning and Zoning Board in May. The Mirror reported that last October, in presenting his vision for the property, Centennial CEO Steven Levin said, “This mall doesn’t have to die.”
