RMS Companies is the latest residential developer to propose a project on a long-vacant site in Downtown Stamford.
And it’s now the latest to get pushback, according to the Stamford Advocate.
The luxury development firm wants to build 228 apartments and 8,000 square feet of office space at the corner of Broad Street and Greylock Place. RMS would move its own offices into the eight-story building.
Various proposals for the property have surfaced over the last decade. Each one failed.
RMS’ proposal is the first to make it to the local zoning board, and did receive praise from some members.
Neighbors at a nearby condominium complex, however, strongly oppose the move.
Residents of the Classic Condominium said the project would mean a substantial increase in pedestrian and motor traffic. One resident called the development an “atrocity” on what he called an urban forest. It was unclear precisely what aesthetic flourish their own condo project brings to the surrounding downtown district.
The zoning board meeting is planned for the middle of next month. [Stamford Advocate] — Dennis Lynch
