The famed Hotel Chelsea could soon see a new owner, the hotel’s board announced today. The owners have decided to sell the 125-year-old property, located at 222 West 23rd Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, in an effort to “reenergize and revitalize the [Hotel] Chelsea,” according to Paul Brounstein, a shareholder of the property and one of the building’s board members. The hotel, which includes 125 transient hotel rooms and 101 residential units, rose to fame in the first half of the 20th century as an artists’ enclave. It garnered landmark status in 1966 and was known for its celebrity guests, which included Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison and Sid Vicious. The asking price wasn’t not immediately clear. TRD
