Celebs increasingly flock to Brooklyn for homes

Brooklyn is quickly joining the ranks of Manhattan and Beverly Hills as a haven for celebrity home seekers, according to the New York Daily News. While local celebrity Pat Kiernan may be the latest, bigger names, including actors Anne Hathaway, Ed Westwick, Paul Giamatti and Amy Ryan, and singers Bjork and Norah Jones have descended upon the borough of late.

Most of these celebrities live in Brooklyn’s priciest neighborhoods, but ironically the News said they move to the neighborhood to feel “a little edgy.”

“The Brooklyn lifestyle is something they really want,” said aptsandlofts.com President David Maundrell. “Everybody walks around so low-key; they just blend right in.”

The absence of paparazzi lurking around every corner waiting to snap photos of world famous celebrities completing everyday chores, may be the borough’s biggest draw, the Daily News reported. [NYDN]
