Residents of the trendy West Village condo building Superior Ink, which was taken offline by Hurricane Sandy, got some bad news Wednesday night, during a heated meeting with the building’s management. According to the New York Post, residents will not be able to move back into the 400 West 12th Street building for months.

“Seawater got into the pipes and is corrosive, so this must be cleared out. The … building could be uninhabitable for months. Owners will not get help to relocate and should call their insurance provider,” a source told the Post. “There was a unit-owner meeting to update on the efforts . . . to get the building to where it is safe and ready to be occupied again. It is hoped the building can be re-occupied in a couple of weeks or, outside date, a couple of months.”

The building’s celebrity residents include designer Marc Jacobs, actress Hilary Swank, Internet billionaire Mark Shuttleworth — who bought a $31.5 million penthouse in the building — NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson — and Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill. [NYP]Christopher Cameron
