Extending his dominion in the East Village, Jared Kushner has picked up a $28.8 million portfolio of 55 apartment and five retail properties in two in-contract deals, the New York Post Reported.

The properties were purchased from Icon Realty Management’s Terrence Lowenberg and Todd Cohen, and include 325 East 10th Street on Tompkins Square Park, as well as the nearby 329, 331, 333 and 335 East 9th Street. Aaron Jungreis of Rosewood Realty handled both off-market deals. Lowenberg and Cohen declined to discuss the deal with the Post.

Over the past seven months, Kushner has purchased over 450 apartment units in the area, as The Real Deal previously reported. In some cases, he paid sellers massive premiums on their purchase prices.

Tenants in the East Village have come together to discuss how new developments in the rapidly-changing area will affect their quality of life. [NYP, 4th item]  –Hiten Samtani
