WEEKENDEDITION In New York, Joan Rivers is known as the condominium board president and “scary lady upstairs” at 1 East 62nd Street. But when she is in Los Angeles filming ‘Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best,’ she stays in a guest room in her daughter’s 5,000-square-foot home.

Joan’s daughter, Melissa, purchased her two-story four-bedroom house in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles over 16 years ago to enjoy its unobstructed ocean views, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“For the past four years, I’ve been flying out from New York and staying a few days each week to tape our two reality shows,” Joan Rivers told the Journal. “My room is down a flight of stairs. You really learn your place here fast.”

Melissa says that the room “feels very East Coast” and features a courtyard, although it was never designed for someone to live in full time.

But according to Joan, Melissa “designed the house beautifully. She picked the fabrics and color schemes. I adore her red den, and the cream and light gray she chose for the living room. But I’m constantly reminded it’s her home,” Joan said. [WSJ] Christopher Cameron
