Lee upgraded the six-bedroom home at 4 Bittersweet Lane in New Castle, purchased in 2008, without consulting town Building Inspector Bill Maskiell, the Journal News reported. Among the changes are the addition of a new gazebo, shed and other renovations that Lee has featured in USA Today, New York Magazine, People and Elle Decor, sans town approval, according to the paper.

“I haven’t heard about any remodeling there,” Maskiell told the Journal News. “Anything the involves removing walls or reconfiguring doors would require a building permit.” [Journal News]Julie Strickland
