A Queens developer filed an application to construct a nearly 100,000-square-foot residential development in Jamaica, according to Wednesday’s property records.

George Xu – a developer behind numerous projects in Queens – is planning a development at 148-37 88th Avenue that will include 120 residential units. The building, which will boast a total of 99,426 square feet, is slated to be eight-stories tall. The application also calls for 60 parking spaces with the new building.

Xu, who is also the co-owner of the Flushing-based Century Development Group, is also behind a 24-unit condo building in Long Island City’s Court Square area, as well as other commercial and residential developments in the borough.

Xu purchased the site in May for $5.42 million, according to property records.

Raymond Chan, a Queens-based architect, is the designer on the project. When reached by phone on Wednesday afternoon, Chan declined to comment on specifics of the project.

Chan is designing two other buildings in the area, he said, both close to the the AirTrain station that is expected to revitalize downtown Jamaica. Chan said renderings for the plan were not yet available.

Xu was not immediately available for comment on Wednesday afternoon.
