The Upper West Side apartment from which late philanthropist Robert Wilson jumped to his death has sold for almost $21 million to private equity investor Lawrence Neubauer.

The three-bedroom corner apartment, located in the San Remo building at 145 Central Park West, sold for $20.75 million – just shy of its $21.5 million asking price. Retired hedge-fund founder Wilson was 87 when he jumped out of his home’s 16th floor window in December 2013.

Neubauer purchased the apartment under the guise of a family trust, according to the New York Daily News. Kleier Residential’s Laurel Rosenbluth represented Wilson’s estate in the deal.

The tony Upper West Side co-op has housed its share of high-profile residents. Dustin Hoffman sold his four-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot unit at the San Remo for more than $21 million last year, while Demi Moore listed her triplex in the building for $75 million last month. [NYDN]Rey Mashayekhi
