Blackstone Group hired L&L Holding’s Simon Wasserberger as a senior vice president to oversee Equity Office’s New York operations.
Blackstone’s funds bought Equity Office, which owns and manages 47 million square feet of office space across the U.S., for $36 billion in 2006. The deal was reported to be the largest leveraged buyout in history.
Equity Office owns five Manhattan office buildings — 114 West 41st Street, 1740 Broadway, 44 Wall Street, 5 Bryant Park and 65 East 55th Street — according to its website.
As a managing director at L&L , Wasserberger oversaw several redevelopment projects, including 222 Broadway. Prior to joining the firm in 2010, he worked at CBRE and Tishman Speyer. — Konrad Putzier
