Major League Baseball is enjoying a must-watch World Series in Cleveland and Chicago. Here in New York City, MLB continues to make plays, too.

Fresh off finalizing its lease for a new 400,000-square-foot headquarters on Sixth Avenue, the league took two floors of sublease space from Twitter in Midtown South for its digital arm MLB Advanced Media, sources told The Real Deal.

The league signed a three-year deal to take 24,000 square feet on the eighth and ninth floors at 245 West 17th Street, where Twitter leased 140,000 square feet back in 2014.

Earlier this year, the micro-blogging platform put two floors of space on the sublease market that it had been warehousing for growth, looking to lease it out to tenants on a short-term basis. MLB swung in and took floors two and three in the spring as it prepared to relocate and consolidate its offices in the city. Asking rents weren’t available.

Sources said MLB Advanced Media employees who currently work out of Chelsea Market will make the move to the Twitter space.

Meanwhile, the front offices are relocating from 245 Park Avenue to the Rockefeller Group’s 1271 Sixth Avenue.
