Meryl Streep drops $3.6M on mid-century Pasadena foothills home

It better have plenty of room for all those golden statuettes.

Three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep paid $3.6 million for a mid-century modern home in the foothills above Pasadena, Variety reported.

Streep and her husband Don Gummer landed the three-bedroom, 3,087-square-foot home for more than half a million dollars less than its $4.125 million asking price. The property hit the market in 2016 at an original ask of $4.75 million. It’s reportedly the first time the single-story home, built in 1959 by architects Whitney Smith & Wayne Williams, has changed hands in nearly 50 years.

The property sits on nearly 2 acres, up a winding driveway surrounded by landscaped foliage. It’s broken into two wings and features a detached office or studio. Listing photos show a living room with high ceilings and a fireplace, wall-to-ceiling windows and a foyer with original terrazzo floors. The grounds offer a view over the Arroyo Seco River bed to the Colorado Street Bridge.

In 2013, the pair purchased the Honnold & Rex Research House in Hollywood Hills West for $4.5 million, only to sell it about a year later to baseball star Alex Rodriguez for $4.8 million, according to the LA Times.
