UPDATED Monday, Oct. 8 at 5:55 p.m.: Ralph Herzka could soon have a Brooklyn compound fit for a king.

Through an LLC, the chairman and CEO of Meridian Capital Group filed plans in September to tear down an existing home at 3420 Bedford Avenue in Midwood and replace it with a nearly 10,000-square-foot mansion. Herzka even tapped Robert A.M. Stern, whose firm (RAMSA) is known for luxury condominiums such as 15 Central Park West, to design the mammoth personal estate.

Market Urbanism’s Stephen Smith first tweeted the news, and noted that Herzka assembled four parcels next to the existing house between 2010 and 2014 for a combined $5.45 million.

Few design details have been released, and neither Meridian nor RAMSA would comment. But RAMSA partner Roger Seifter — whose name is also listed on the building application — told The Real Deal by email that designing single-family homes wasn’t out of the ordinary.

“Robert A.M. Stern Architects’ earliest focus was single-family houses, and the design of houses remains at the heart of the practice today, constituting about 20 percent of the firm’s work,” he wrote.

Correction: A previous version of this article identified Stephen Smith as the editor of New York YIMBY. He left that role in 2015. The story also included a misleading tweet from Smith speculating whether the mansion will be a spec house developed by Meridian. The only link to the firm is through Herzka.
