Ex-Knicks star Allan Houston asks $20M for Westchester home

Allan Houston, the former New York Knicks guard known for taking the team to the NBA Finals before signing one of the biggest contracts in NBA history at the time, is asking almost $20 million for his Westchester County mansion.

Houston, who currently serves as the Knicks’ assistant general manager, had the Armonk, N.Y., home custom built following his retirement in 2005. The seven-bedroom, 19,300-square-foot mansion sits on more than 10 acres and includes an indoor basketball court, a trophy room, a swimming pool and a golf practice area featuring a putting green and sand trap.

The home, made of hand-cut stone, was previously on the market for just under $25 million, according to listing agent Brian Milton of Houlihan Lawrence. The mansion is located next door to the former estate of director and actor Ron Howard, who sold his 32-acre property for $27.5 million last year, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Knicks team president Phil Jackson paid $4.85 million last year for a co-op at the Osborne at 205 West 57th Street, while Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony picked up an $11 million full-floor condo at Cary Tamarkin’s 508 West 24th Street in Chelsea.

A prolific three-point shooter who helped take the Knicks to the NBA Finals in 1999, Houston is also known for the massive six-year, $100 million contract he signed with the team in 2001. Injuries subsequently limited Houston and eventually forced his retirement, and the contract is widely regarded as one of the worst in NBA history.
