R-amen! Wagamama to open first NYC restaurant
Casual pan-Asian eatery signs 7K sf lease, will open in mid-2016
These aren’t the ramen noodles you lived on in college.
Wagamama, the pan-Asian ramen restaurant chain, signed a 7,000-square-foot lease at 210 Fifth Avenue in Nomad.
The chain will open its U.S. flagship restaurant at the location, an 11-story, 36,000-square-foot building in Nomad owned by the Lerad Company, in mid-2016.
Jared Lack and Jessica Kalimian of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented Lerad in the deal, while Alexandra Turboff of BCD represented the restaurant. The asking rent for the three-level space was $800,000, Lack told the New York Post.
The Upper East Side-based Lerad also owns a 32,000-square-foot residential building with ground floor retail at 1470 Third Avenue.
Wagamama, which translates to “naughty child” in Japanese, was founded in London by chef Alan Yau in 1992 and operates 140 locations worldwide. It Was Bought By Duke Street Capital for $350 million in 2011. [NYP] – Ariel Stulberg
