Personal injury attorney Flip Corboy is the latest high-profile buyer at JDL Development’s No. 9 Walton luxury condo tower in the Gold Coast.

Corboy bought a 4,400-square-foot unit on the 24th Floor of the building at 9 West Walton Street for $6.1 million, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Corboy is the son of the late Philip Corboy Sr., who started their well known personal injury firm Corboy & Demetrio. Corboy Jr. and his wife also own a 10,100-square-foot mansion in Winnetka, according to the Tribune.

No. 9 Walton has drawn a string of big-name buyers, most notably billionaire Ken Griffin, whose $59 million purchase of the unfinished top four floors of the building shattered the record for most expensive home sale in the area.

Others joining Griffin and Corboy in buying units in the tower include Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward, former Chicago Bull Omer Asik and Blackhawks star Jonathan Toews.

The tower has dominated the list of most expensive residential sales since late 2017 as the luxury home market overall has seen a record year.

JDL, meanwhile, is now partnering with Sterling Bay on a plan to build the massive One Chicago Square complex a few blocks away that is set to include what would be the sixth-tallest skyscraper in the city. [Chicago Tribune] — John O’Brien
