Ex-Bears coach Nagy sells Lake Bluff home for $4.5M

Former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy sold his Lake Bluff mansion about four months after putting it on the market.

Nagy and his wife got $4.45 million for the six-bedroom, 9,400-square-foot mansion at 570 Lansdowne Lane in the village 35 miles north of Chicago, Crain’s reported. The price was about 75 percent of the $5.95 million price it asked when it hit the market.

The Nagys spent $2.75 million in 2018 on the home, which sits on about two acres in a secluded subdivision that was once a single 20-acre estate. The couple updated the home with new lighting, millwork and drapery as well as gut-rehabbing the bathrooms. The Nagys also built an underground sports court.

Listing agent Alissa McNicholas of Compass, told the outlet that the renovations justified the higher price. It has a new laundry room, mudroom with lockers and a kitchen with marble countertops. The basement also has a billiard room, poker room, bar and movie theater.

Susie Banas, the @properties agent who represented the undisclosed buyers, said the family has twin sons, similar to the Nagys family.

Nagy became head coach for the Bears in 2018 after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. In January, the Bears fired Nagy, who compiled a record of 34 wins and 31 losses in four seasons, and he’s since returned to the Chiefs as a quarterback coach.

The Lake Bluff home is the 100th in the Chicago area to sell for $4 million or more this year. Some 102 sales have met that threshold this year, compared with the recent average of 51 a year. Last year’s 100th sale came in December, suggesting that 2022 is set to top last year’s record.
