Jameson Sotheby’s adds agents as reshaped brokerage industry vies for talent

Spencer Terry, Rory Mone and Amanda Zick join brokerage, citing global reach and boutique support

Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty picked up three agents across Chicago and the wealthy suburban North Shore in recent weeks, adding to its headcount as the city’s top firms wrestle for talent in a consolidating market.

Spencer Terry returned to the brokerage’s Chicago City Hub office to co-found a new team, Echelon Partners, alongside Landon Heck, according to Jameson Sotheby’s. Rory Mone is joining the City Hub from Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Chicago, while Amanda Zick is joining the team at the firm’s upcoming Winnetka office, the company said.

Amalgamation across the brokerage industry has driven competition for technology, access to listings and local support throughout the industry, and brokerages have been pushed to prove their value to agents.

The recruitment drive comes in the wake of Compass’ megamerger with Anywhere Real Estate, which brought Anywhere’s brands — including Sotheby’s International Realty — under Compass’ ownership.

The agents said that merger was not a factor in their decision to join Jameson Sotheby’s, which is an independently owned franchise of Sotheby’s and is expected to keep a distinct brand. Terry, who was previously with Jameson Sotheby’s for two years before moving to Compass in March 2025, said he doesn’t know if Jameson Sotheby’s will be adopting Compass’ technology, but that having access to the tools of his former brokerage would be a welcome addition.

Compass CEO Robert Reffkin has said independent franchises will have access to Compass’ technology platform if they want it.

“Any additional technology or tools that will benefit my clients and make my life easier, I’m all for it,” Terry said.

Terry said he returned to Jameson because the brokerage’s focus on luxury services across price points fits well with his and Heck’s goals with Echelon Partners. The team has three additional agents, Terry said.

“Landon and I like that whole luxury service, fine dining approach to it,” he said. “We wanted to build a team that was big on mentorship and not just on building a business for a team lead’s brand.”

Terry closed $10 to $11 million in sales last year, he said, and Heck closed about $19 million. Combined, they have about $100 million in sales volume with a combined 17 years of experience, Jameson Sotheby’s said in its press release.

For Zick, joining Jameson Sotheby’s Winnetka office was an opportunity to get in on the “ground floor” of the company’s push into the high-demand North Shore town. The firm opened a new Lake Forest office this month and is planning to open offices in Winnetka and Glenview this year. The firm hired Megan Mawicke to lead its Winnetka office last year.

Zick was previously at @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, where she was part of a team, and she was at Compass before that. A former teacher at the New Trier school system, Zick began selling real estate full-time last year, she said, when she closed about $4 million in transaction volume. At Jameson Sotheby’s she will be a solo agent.

The brokerage’s focus on personalized service, along with its international reach, appealed to her.

“I really like their marketing and how they provide a boutique experience for clients,” Zick said. “It aligns well with how I like to do my business, giving a very personal, individually tailored experience for each client.”

Sotheby’s global network was also a big deal for Mone, who joined Jameson from Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Chicago last month. Originally from Ireland, Mone said he’s been contacted about property in Dublin through the Sotheby’s office there in his first couple weeks with the firm.

“I just wanted to clear a way for myself for the next step and grow my business, and Jameson sort of fit that role with the leadership, resources,” he said.

Mone has a background as a contractor and in property management, and he’s been working as a real estate broker for 10 years. He closed about $6 million in transaction volume last year, he said.

Other competitors have been flexing their appeal to agents through recruiting in recent weeks as well.

Baird & Warner, Chicago’s largest independent brokerage, picked up Steve Jasinski from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago and the Gerber Diaz Group from Compass in late 2025.

Meanwhile, Compass added the Cohen Morsch team, formerly of Cross Street, to the brokerage last month.
