Billy Donovan is making his exit from Chicago official, at least on the residential real estate front.
Days after stepping down as head coach of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, Donovan and his wife, Christine, listed their Lincoln Park home for $4.5 million, offering up a recently built, high-end property in one of the city’s most sought-after neighborhoods, the Chicago Tribune first reported.
The six-bedroom house at 1932 North Fremont Street, spanning roughly 5,200 square feet, hit the market Thursday, shortly after the franchise began a broader front-office reset that included the firings of top executives earlier this month. Donovan’s departure caps a six-year run marked by limited postseason success, with the team making the playoffs just once.
The Donovans purchased the property in 2021 for $3.5 million, according to Cook County records, shortly after it was completed by AK Custom Homes. Like many high-profile buyers, they acquired it through an opaque land trust, shielding their ownership until the listing surfaced. Paul Gorney of eXp Realty has the listing.
The three-story residence features modern luxury finishes, with a full limestone and masonry exterior and a layout geared toward both entertaining and privacy. The home includes five full bathrooms, two half-baths and an elevator serving all levels, along with a lower level outfitted with radiant heating, according to the newspaper.
Inside, the kitchen is equipped with custom cabinetry, high-end appliances from Sub-Zero and Wolf and designer fixtures, while a formal dining area features a wet bar and built-in wine storage. The primary suite includes a steam shower and a soaking tub.
The home’s outdoor space is also a selling point. It includes a rooftop deck covered with a pergola, outdoor fireplace and stone pavers, the listing shows.
The property also carries some neighborhood pedigree. Former Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood previously owned a home on the same block, highlighting the area’s longstanding appeal among athletes and executives alike.
